Design specifications
The Chakra is navy blue, has 24 equally spaced spokes and should be completely visible on both sides of the flag. It is centred within the white panel.
Why is it placed on white?
White creates a clear background on which the navy-blue wheel can be recognised from a distance. Associations with peace, clarity and movement guided by responsibility are philosophical interpretations, not technical definitions in the Flag Code.
Respectful use of the National Flag
The Flag Code of India brings together instructions and conventions concerning display and use. Laws concerning national honour also apply. Do not rely on distorted, incomplete or incorrectly coloured illustrations for official use.
